Changes to the New Zealand Traveller Declaration Process

The New Zealand Government is introducing an online travel declaration for people arriving into New Zealand.

ENZ PAVE L Airport

The new online travel declaration is currently available for travellers arriving into Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown. Travellers arriving into Auckland airport still need to complete a paper Passenger Arrival Card, which will be handed out on-board flights coming in to these two airports.

Travellers into Auckland Airport will be able to complete a digital declaration from late August.

Key information about the online declaration process:

  • It is free.
  • Takes about 10 minutes.
  • It can be completed on a mobile phone or computer.
  • It can be completed within 24 hours of the traveller starting their trip to New Zealand.
  • The declaration can be completed with the help of someone the traveller trusts or can be completed by someone on behalf of the traveller (with their permission).
  • A declaration needs to be completed for each traveller, including babies and children.
  • There is a paper declaration form available, for travellers who cannot complete it online.
