ENZ and the New Zealand High Commission co-organised an alumni function earlier this month, in honour of the State Visit to Malaysia by H.E the Rt Hon Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor-General of New Zealand.  

During her speech, Dame Cindy Kiro highlighted that alumni are key to the strong relationship between Malaysia and New Zealand. She had the opportunity to meet prominent alumni, including Otago alumnus and former Malaysia Minister of Energy, Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leo Moggie and Tan Sri Dr Mazlan Othman, an Otago alumnus and Malaysia’s first Astrophysicist.

Mayor of Wellington Tory Whanau led a delegation to China from 17-22 September, with the delegation visiting Tianjin and Wellington’s Sister Cities, Beijing and Xiamen. The delegation included education providers travelling with the mayor to reconnect and make new connections under the sister city umbrella.  

ENZ Senior Market Development Manager Greater China Felix Ye provided support by accompanying the delegation on visits to key partners and Chinese education institutions in Xiamen on 19 September. ENZ Market Development Manager Greater China Jane Liu accompanied the delegation on visits to key partners during their time in Beijing.

On 18 September, ENZ Senior Market Development Manager Kay Lee (bottom left) had the pleasure of hosting a student group from Ormiston Junior College and Ormiston Senior College at the New Zealand Embassy in Seoul. 

The students were in Seoul as part of a study tour to immerse themselves in Korean schooling and culture. Deputy Ambassador to Republic of Korea, Jeong Park, and First Secretary James Kim-Russell helped ENZ welcome the group.  

They engaged in a discussion about the Embassy’s roles and initiatives for the benefits of New Zealand, and the New Zealand-Korea relationship.

ENZ Senior Market Development Manager Brazil Bruna de Natale attended ICEF Latin America in São Paulo, one of the main events of the international education sector in Latin America with a focus on business-to-business networking.  

Bruna spoke on a panel about student recruitment through marketing initiatives. In addition to ENZ, the New Zealand Choice Schools Consortium, Motueka High School and Northcote College also represented New Zealand and connected with educational agents from Brazil and other Latin American countries.

ENZ representatives attended the annual European Association for International Education (EAIE) conference in Rotterdam late last month. It was the largest EAIE ever, with over 6,700 attendees from over 100 countries. ENZ hosted the New Zealand pavilion and a networking function for sector representatives and partners.

On the way to the European Association for International Education (EAIE) conference, ENZ Market Development Manager Europe Adina Stoye attended the Elevate Study Abroad Fair in Paris.  

As part of the fair, Adina (pictured left) participated in a panel talk ‘Beyond rankings: How to select a university with confidence. The panel included speakers from the University of Nottingham, the University of Queensland, and Regent’s University. The discussion focused on what prospective students should consider in addition to rankings.
