New Zealand education connections grow at Viet Nam agent seminars
Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao (ENZ) brought together more than 50 New Zealand education providers and nearly 200 representatives from partner organisations at agent and counsellor seminars in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

New Zealand education providers connected directly with Vietnamese education agents, creating further opportunities for collaboration and student recruitment.
Held on 24 and 26 August, the New Zealand Agent and Counsellor Seminars 2026 were ENZ’s largest education event in Viet Nam this year. The seminars strengthened connections among New Zealand providers, education agents, counsellors and institutional partners, while sharing market insights and creating new opportunities for collaboration and student recruitment.
The seminars also coincided with the first official visit to Viet Nam by ENZ Chief Executive David Downs. His visit followed the August state visit to New Zealand by General Secretary and President Tô Lâm, when both countries renewed their Education Cooperation Arrangement and reaffirmed education as a central part of the bilateral relationship.
Viet Nam is one of ENZ’s priority growth markets and one of only two countries where every education subsector is a focus. Around 2,200 Vietnamese students enrolled in New Zealand in 2025, a 14 percent increase from 2024 and above the 11 percent growth in international enrolments overall.
David said sustainable growth depended on strong relationships and a high-quality experience for students.
“Viet Nam remains one of ENZ’s priority growth markets. For ENZ, growth is not simply about increasing numbers. It is about welcoming students who understand the value of a New Zealand education, who thrive while they are here, and who return home as lifelong ambassadors for New Zealand.”
New partnerships support future growth
At the seminars, ENZ announced a collaboration with international education organisation Grok to connect with Vietnamese learners and school career counsellors, promote transnational education, and build a community of international in-country representatives. Grok will also provide market intelligence to help New Zealand institutions understand changing trends and sharpen their approach to student recruitment.
A collaboration with Pearson PTE will expand access to New Zealand Government-backed scholarships for Vietnamese students and strengthen English-language support for scholarship candidates. The collaboration will help international students build the language skills and confidence they need to succeed in global learning environments.
ENZ also announced partnerships with master agents Adventus.io, Bright Can-Achieve and Global Education Alliance. The partnerships will extend engagement with education agents across Viet Nam and support counsellors to provide accurate, timely guidance to students and families considering study pathways in New Zealand.
Together, the seminars and David’s first visit reinforced the momentum behind New Zealand’s education relationship with Viet Nam and ENZ’s focus on sustainable growth that benefits students, education providers and communities in both countries.
