Final photo symposium

January saw the inaugural NZELTO Asia Symposium delivered in Bangkok by our partners, Kāpuhipuhi Wellington Uni-Professional. This was the final stage for government officials from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and Mongolia who had started their experience with a three-month English language training programme in Aotearoa New Zealand last year, delivered by the English Language Institute of Victoria University of Wellington.

The Symposium saw the officials present their workplace projects to each other on the themes of good governance or strengthening resilience, hear from expert speakers and panellists from the Asia Foundation, Institute of Security and Chulalongkorn University, the Asian Development Bank and the private sector, as well as network with each other and representatives of the New Zealand Posts in Bangkok and Timor-Leste.

In late January, ENZ Market Manager Naluri Bella, Director Asia Ben Burrowes, and all eight New Zealand universities joined forces to organise a series of promotional activities in Surabaya and Jakarta, Indonesia. The collaboration between ENZ and the universities aimed to strengthen ties with Indonesian education agencies, school counsellors, and alumni, fostering future partnerships and enhancing the visibility of New Zealand as a preferred destination for international education.

Following the university events, on 27 January, ENZ co-hosted a New Zealand Alumni Day with New Zealand Inc agencies. The New Zealand - Indonesia Alumni Association was launched during the event.
