  • Say hello to the new, improved Brand Lab

Over the past quarter, ENZ's marketing team has been developing a new and improved Brand Lab system – due to go live tomorrow, Thursday 11 May.

ENZ Content Marketing Project Manager, Laura Lingard, said the site has many new features, all of which are much more user-friendly than the previous Brand Lab.

“The new site has been designed with the user front of mind, even giving guidance around the different types of assets and how these can be used to promote the benefits of a New Zealand education,” said Laura.

The new Brand Lab also has improved search functionality to make it easier for users to find what they’re looking for – as well as a suite of new assets including translated videos and artwork.

“The Brand Lab is a useful resource for providers to promote their individual education offering, and it’s also a way for the sector to work together to build a consistent brand story about New Zealand ,” said Laura.

What’s new about the Brand Lab?

    • New range of videos (across different markets and languages)

    • New range of brand imagery and stories (Think New)

    • New range of university imagery

    • 30 new student stories (case studies)

    • New infographics (for social media)

    • Translated sector stories

    • Users can download low resolution or high resolution versions of images, and preview videos before downloading

    • Users can share assets between users and send assets to non-users

    • Users have increased access to a wider range of assets without needing to request permission

All current Brand Lab users will be sent an invitation to the new site on Thursday 11 May – you will need to re-register due to the system being completely new. Please take the time to complete your registration (it’s quick!) so that you can access the new site.

If you can’t wait until tomorrow (we know how eager you must be to take a look!) you can sign up now by going to thebrandlab.enz.govt.nz

  • Statement from Grant McPherson, ENZ Chief Executive

New Zealand authorities and emergency services are working together to respond to the terrorist incident in Christchurch yesterday.

Education New Zealand is working with providers and students to ensure they have the support and information they need.

ENZ endorses this statement from New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on the event:

Our thoughts and our prayers are with those who have been impacted today. Christchurch was their home. For many, this may not have been the place they were born, in fact for many, New Zealand was their choice.

The place they actively came to, and committed to. The place they were raising their families. Where they were parts of communities that they loved and who loved them in return. It was a place that many came to for its safety. A place where they were free to practice their culture and their religion.

For those of you who are watching at home tonight, and questioning how this could have happened here.

We, New Zealand, we were not a target because we are a safe harbour for those who hate.

We were not chosen for this act of violence because we condone racism, because we are an enclave for extremism.

We were chosen for the very fact that we are none of those things.

Because we represent diversity, kindness, compassion. A home for those who share our values. Refuge for those who needs it. And those values will not and cannot be shaken by this attack.

We are a proud nation of more than 200 ethnicities, 160 languages. And amongst that diversity we share common values. And the one that we place the currency on right now is our compassion and support for the community of those directly affected by this tragedy.

You can access updates from the New Zealand Government at www.beehive.govt.nz

Police information about the event is available at https://www.police.govt.nz/major-events/christchurch-mosque-shooting

The Restoring Family Links Website is a tool where people can register so family and friends know they are safe. It is at https://familylinks.icrc.org/new-zealand/en/Pages/Home.aspx

Christchurch education providers are focused on supporting their students. The University of Canterbury website is a comprehensive example of services that are available: https://www.canterbury.ac.nz/support/emergency/alerts/details/index.php?id=4

  • MyStudy NZ WeChat mini programme gets a refresh

MyStudy NZ is our intelligent matching tool which matches prospective students to courses and institutions in New Zealand based on a set of questions and areas of interest. It can be found on www.studyinnewzealand.govt.nz for our western markets.

However, for our China market who predominantly use WeChat, we developed a mini programme for them in November 2018.

The new version of the mini programme continues the original smart matching, but is more user-friendly and personalised, making it easy for students to obtain official information about application.

How is 2.0 better than 1.0? We believe it’s better in eight different ways:

    1. Social sharing enabled – Prospective students who come across their dream school can now share it to a WeChat friend or group chat immediately. The recipient can open the mini programme and view the details of the school as well.
    2. One-click authorisation – Students won’t have to fill in all the details to become a member anymore. With one click, prospective students can authorise their WeChat accounts to become registered MyStudy NZ members.
    3. Clear living costs displayed – Once prospective students get a match, they can expand and view the annual living costs in a pop-up window.
    4. You can see the latest content with added filter – Without registering, students can view the latest OA articles and filter based on views or posting date.
    5. UX (user experience) optimisation – Users can now choose paths when entering the mini programme.
    6. Complete UI (user interface) update – To remain consistent with the refreshed ‘I am New’ brand.
    7. New notifications – Push notifications will be sent to remind students to register, do course matching, bookmark favourite schools and talk to them.
    8. Speed optimisation and no more errors – We have done some coding optimisations and upgraded our server so the mini programme will load faster and users shouldn’t receive any more error messages.

What's in it for me?
