ENZ-Enroller partnership looks to maintain capability of schools to host international students
ENZ is subsidising the cost of Enroller’s digital platform for schools for the remainder of 2021 and 2022. The funding will start with secondary schools.
“ENZ is aware that international student departments at schools are busier than ever, managing the increased pastoral care needs of students still in New Zealand,” ENZ General Manager – Partnerships & Marketing, Paul Irwin, says.
A report released by Edified in March showed that international recruitment and marketing in schools is in a state of flux. Due to a lack of travel, schools are relying more than ever on digital marketing – however, support and guidance is needed to support international departments to make the transition to digital.
“Our aim is to support more schools to continue digital marketing, managing enquiries and applications quickly and easily. This partnership will also help ensure that the schools sector is prepared for when international students return to New Zealand,” Irwin says.
ENZ and New Zealand company Enroller have worked together before on a research project that was completed in 2019.
That research indicated Enroller was incredibly useful to both schools and agents. 90 per cent of schools who participated said it was a more efficient way of processing student enrolments, saving them between two and three hours’ of work per student enrolment. Of the education agencies surveyed nearly 70 per cent said that Enroller made it easier to submit and manage applications to NZ schools.
The next step of that research project will continue with the 2021 partnership.
“We’re excited to be able to offer additional support to schools and continue the work that ENZ and Enroller began in 2018.” CEO and co-founder of Enroller, Michael Barry, says.
“The NZ school sector is hurting – It has been a long and uncertain 12 months for many. The extension of this research project will enable multi-tasking international departments, and their education agency partners, the additional digital capability and resource that they need to manage the rebuild of their international student roll, cost-effectively.”
Representatives from ENZ and Enroller are looking forward to sharing more on the partnership at Enroller’s upcoming virtual roadshow for current Enroller clients. The webinars will take place at 2:00pm on 25 May and 11:30am on 26 May.

Seeking schools for Digital Lead Research Project
The research project will help ENZ improve the effectiveness of ENZ’s digital marketing campaigns for the school sector, including the quality of the prospective student leads generated.
The project is being carried out by Enroller on behalf of ENZ and will take place between December 2018 and May 2019.
Participating schools will be provided with lead management software for the duration of the research* to help them evaluate the usefulness of ENZ digital leads alongside their other existing channels.
Clive Jones, ENZ’s General Manager, Strategy and Insight, says the aim is to better understand and improve ENZ’s digital channels to ensure New Zealand schools get the most value.
“We’re particularly interested in understanding the current volume and conversion rate of our digital leads for schools alongside existing recruitment channels – with the aim of improving the relevance and value of our digital leads for the school sector,” says Clive.
“Places in the research project are strictly limited, and we’re keen to get underway as soon as possible.”

Techweek TV
ENZ has secured a slot on TechweekTV on a panel entitled Physically distant, virtually connected; recreating the New Zealand education experience online, streaming online at 2:30pm on 30 July (NZT).
It will feature ENZ director of platforms and campaigns, Euan Howden, and senior market manager Misa Kitaoka; Jason Mangan, chief technology officer and co-founder of University of Auckland’s lean start up – Connected Experiences; and CRO of Education Perfect, Tim Vaughan.
They’ll explore how to recreate the New Zealand education experience in a COVID-19 environment. The panel will be chaired by director of ATEED, MIT and Unitec Ziena Jalil. Ziena sits on the Boards of Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT), Unitec, and the Cancer Society Auckland Northland.
EdTechNZ Showcase
EdTechNZ will present a showcase of 24 New Zealand companies. In a series of four Zoom webinars, each company take 10 minutes to show how their products and services are changing the world and take questions from the webinar audience.
The variety of NZ companies innovating to improve educational outcomes is impressive, ranging from primary through post-tertiary, with games, infrastructure, AI, and bringing people closer together all playing a role.
ENZ business development manager Annabel Robertson will be chairing the sessions along with other EdtechNZ Board members.
Panel discussion
ENZ director of partnerships and channels Dan Smidt will be chairing a panel discussion on the role of technology in delivering enhanced customer experiences, cross-sector connections, and seamless pathways for international students, education agents and education providers.
The panel will feature representatives from Enroller, Up Education and JJL Education Consulting.
