    Director of Insights for Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao (ENZ), Marie Clark, and Student Experience Manager, Ross Crosson will be hosting a webinar on 22 August 2024 from 7-8pm NZST on the recently released 2024 Student Experience Survey results. The webinar is for anyone in our sector who is interested in delving more into the data.

    Marie and Ross will talk about the overall student experience for international students enrolled with a New Zealand education provider and where improvements can be made to enhance the international student experience.

    ENZ’s Intelligence Manager Andrew McPhee encourages all New Zealand education providers working in international education to make the most of this resource.

    “International education professionals want to be as informed as possible before making important decisions – IntelliLab should be your go-to source,” he says.

    IntelliLab is free, easy to access and provides the latest information on student numbers and trends, market information, industry valuations, research, and insights on developments such as the recent downturn in new Chinese students, to help industry make informed decisions.

    “It also includes exclusive content – while the summary dashboards and most infographics are available for anyone to download, the reports and insights are only available to registered New Zealand government officials and international education providers.

    “The interactive numbers tools in particular are popular with users, such as TED (The Enrolments Data), as it enables providers to analyse student numbers over the past five years by their key markets, sectors, and region,” Andrew says.

    Christchurch NZ Programme Manager Bree Loverich says the data from IntelliLab is a key source of support for the work she does at a regional level.

  • You’re invited! Find out about Brazil international education trends in upcoming webinar

    The study surveyed 586 education agencies and 1,780 students from across Brazil to understand trends, behaviours, and preferences in the international education sector, showcasing Aotearoa New Zealand as one of the fastest-growing destinations among Brazilians seeking an international education.

  • Announcing closing plenary speaker for NZIEC KI TUA 2024

    Drawing on his experience leading health care organisations and the health system in Aotearoa New Zealand, including during periods of significant change and uncertainty, Sir Ashley’s closing plenary session will focus on how to lead effectively now and in the future. He will talk to NZIEC KI TUA delegates about leading through change and uncertainty.   

    “We live in an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world, which needs leaders to be agile and adaptable who can lead using different approaches than what we have used in the past. I am looking forward to speaking at NZIEC KI TUA on how we can lead in a world of rapid change and complexity, Sir Ashley said. 
     

    Lead with Stories workshop by Jehan Casinader  

    Award-winning journalist and speaker, Jehan Casinader, will run a workshop, Lead with Stories at NZIEC KI TUA on 7 August. Casinader has spent 15 years telling compelling stories that resonate with people from all walks of life. He has a thorough understanding of New Zealand’s international education sector – and a degree in public policy.  

    Casinader says storytelling makes global influence possible 

    As New Zealand revives its international education sector, leaders and organisations will work harder than ever to engage the hearts and minds of students and partners around the world.  

    However, in an increasingly noisy digital world, it’s harder to grab people’s attention.  

    "Traditional marketing no longer cuts it. And yet, many of us lack the confidence and skills to tell stories or we’re afraid to. As a result, our most important messages are never heard,” Casinader says.  

    In his workshop, Casinader will share practical tools that helps leaders and staff from across the sector to tell compelling stories.  

    The NZIEC KI TUA 2024 programme will be available in July.

  • Ōtautahi Christchurch announced as host city for ICEF ANZA 2024

     

     

    ICEF ANZA gives education providers from Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia the opportunity to meet with top international student recruitment agents from around the world who have a focus on these two study destinations.  

    Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao’s International Event Manager, Janine Huxford said that these conferences are such important events in our sector to bring everyone together and share industry insights, attend workshops and network with our international education peers from all over the world. 

     “We’re delighted that Ōtautahi Christchurch has been announced as the host city for the next ICEF ANZA conference in 2024. This is such a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on our new city and Aotearoa New Zealand as a study destination with world-class study options and unique travel and living abroad experiences", she added.

  • New campaign sparks student network

    “International students tell us that studying in New Zealand is an experience that changes them for the better – not only because of the great education they receive but also because they get to enjoy our unique environment and lifestyle,” says General Manager Marketing and Channel Development Hannah Lee-Darboe.

    “When you’re away from home, sometimes all you want to be able to do is show your friends just what it’s like – to have them right there beside you for a while. We’re offering that opportunity to international students currently in New Zealand.”

    The campaign offers students the chance to invite a friend from their home country to join them here for a 10 day all-expenses-paid study adventure.

    Students visit studyin.nz to enter, and invite their friends to register their interest in visiting them. Entries are open until 25 May. Five student pairs will be shortlisted, with the winning pair selected and their itinerary built by audience vote.  The study adventure will take place in July.

    “We all connect through communities and networks. This campaign activates these channels and puts New Zealand on the radar of the friends and families of students currently studying in New Zealand,” says Hannah.

    Selected institutions are also raising awareness of the competition through their channels. 

    The campaigns builds on the recently-announced partnership with the global networking organisation Kea.

    “International education fosters global connections. We’re connecting New Zealand to the world through education, from studying through to graduation and beyond.”
