  • Miriama Kamo returns to emcee NZIEC 2019

    With such a steady pair of hands at the helm, ENZ is confident the 28th New Zealand International Education Conference and Expo will be another inspirational conference for everyone who attends.

    Taking place at the SKYCITY Conference Centre, Auckland on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 August, the conference is shaping up to be another two days packed full of thought-provoking conversations.

    “The NZIEC conference is always a calendar highlight,” says Miriama.  

    “It’s been a big year in education with a lot of challenges. So, I’m looking forward to another fascinating conference where the issues and opportunities for the sector will be debated, critiqued and celebrated. It’s always informative but also fun.”  

    After almost 17 years of gracing our screens, Miriama Kamo is one of New Zealand’s best-known faces. She is currently hosting TVNZ’s flagship current affairs programme Sunday, a role she has held since 2011. She also co-presents Māori current affairs show Marae.

  • ENZ refreshes Recognised Agency programme

    Following extensive review, ENZ has made key changes to its Recognised Agency programme.

    On a yearly basis, educations agencies will need to meet core requirements to gain or retain Recognised Agency status, including meeting a points target and minimum visa approval rate.

    “This aims to give confidence to stakeholders that Recognised Agencies are successfully, and consistently placing international students with New Zealand education providers,” said Dan.

    “Furthermore, the annual renewal process will ensure that the Recognised Agency information listed on the Study in New Zealand website is up-to-date and providers useful information  to students, parents and education providers who are seeking to engage with an education agent.”

    The changes to ENZRA broadly align with the objectives of the International Education Strategy, and contribute to the attraction of high-value students through ongoing support of quality education agencies.

    “Education agencies play an important role in assisting international students. By engaging more closely with high-quality agencies, we hope to help enrich the student experience by ensuring they are provided with comprehensive, accurate and factual advice regarding studying and living in New Zealand.

    The new ENZRA programme will be live from 1 November 2018.

  • Schools sector infrastructure a key focus of renewed ENZ-SIEBA partnership

    Under the agreement, SIEBA will provide resources and support tailored to schools, including webinars, workshops and newsletters, mentoring, good practice templates and advice.

    “We hope that this partnership will help schools retain the infrastructure and expertise they’ve worked so hard to build,” ENZ Business Development Manager Mary Camp says.

    “We’re looking forward to continuing our strategic partnership with SIEBA, working together to offer practical ways to support schools and their staff through the next phase of the pandemic.”

    SIEBA played a key role in supporting hundreds of schools through the early days of COVID. From April to June 2020, ENZ enabled SIEBA to provide triage support and crisis advice services to schools across the country, providing advice to manage issues related to the closure of the border and repatriation of international students.

    “We are very pleased to extend our partnership with ENZ and be involved in the important work of helping the school sector be ‘Ready-to-Go’ when students can once again enrol in New Zealand schools,” SIEBA Executive Director, John van der Zwan, says.

    “Special effort will go to providing professional learning and development and support for new international professionals as they join the sector and to provide opportunities for all international staff to explore and prepare for the challenges of working in a post COVID-19 environment.”
