  • ISANA NZ Conference 2023

    Registrations are open for the ISANA NZ 2023 conference – Growing international education: Strengthening capacity and ensuring sustainability, at AUT, on March 23 & 24. Outstanding plenary speakers and workshop presenters will be exploring key issues and sharing evidence-based strategies and tools for a sector in recovery mode.  

    Speakers include Prof Colleen Ward, who will discuss the critical importance of managing international learner expectations and Dr Dougal Sutherland who will be discussing and applying clinical insights to international learner wellbeing.  

    Workshops include presentations from the authors of the ground-breaking online Capability Toolkit developed with the support of ENZ Manapou ki te Ao. The University of NSW Health Promotions Unit will present on effective co-creation strategies for supporting learner mental health, and government agencies will provide up-to-date research reports and insights which are integral to innovative, sustainable practice. Most presentations will be highly relevant to and helpful for developing Education Code of Practice competencies.

  • 10 years of Impact: Festival for the Future is back in-person

    Festival for the Future 2021 is a three-day summit showcasing leadership and innovation for impact.

    This year, the festival will feature more than 35 speakers, including Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson; Animation Research Managing Director Sir Ian Taylor; Ethique Founder Brianne West; Young New Zealander of the Year Jazz Thornton; Banqer Founder and Impact Award Winner Kendall Flutey; and Sam Stubbs, Founder of Simplicity.

    ENZ is proud to partner with Inspiring Stories and the Festival for the Future as a silver sponsor, and will have an exhibition space on the festival’s marketplace floor. Through this partnership ENZ is advancing work towards the third pillar of the International Education Strategy 2018 - 2030, Global Citizenship.

    ENZ is also proudly supporting the Global Impact Award, presented to a young New Zealander who demonstrates leadership and takes action to support people and communities beyond our shores, especially in developing countries. The award will be presented as part of the Impact Awards night on Saturday 31 July.

  • ENZ calls for funding proposals for New Zealand-China research partnerships

    The New Zealand-China Tripartite Partnership Fund 2025 offers funding of up to NZD 20,000-30,000 including GST for each partnership project, with the call for proposals open until 2 March 2025.

    Funding proposals are due by 2 March 2025. Download the New Zealand-China Tripartite Partnership Fund 2025 Guidance and Call for Proposals and the Proposal Form. Send your completed proposal as a PDF, and any questions, to china@enz.govt.nz.   


    The fund supports new or existing research partnerships between New Zealand and Chinese universities. There are usually three universities involved – two from China and one from New Zealand.     

    The Tripartite Partnership Fund, administered by ENZ, has a pool of up to NZD 100,000 in 2025 for research partnerships in the arts, humanities, social sciences, sciences and applied sciences. Designed to encourage strategic academic relationships, the fund focuses on fostering relationships and the development of the partnership rather than funding the research itself. 

    The Tripartite Partnership Fund is a key piece of education cooperation between New Zealand and China. Projects under the fund have enjoyed a high level of visibility and attention in both New Zealand and China.  

    Established in 2005, the Tripartite Research Partnership is a valued part of the New Zealand – China bilateral education relationship and we welcome proposals from researchers to join the growing list of funding recipients.
